About this book

Plan it. Recall it. Space it. Fix it.

A practical workbook for grades 6–8 that turns study advice into things learners actually do. Set checkable goals, practice pulling ideas from memory, spread review across days, mix related problems once they are learned, and use mistakes to change the plan. Learners test each strategy with their own evidence, in any subject they choose.

  • Plan realistic sessions with buffer time
  • Retrieval practice with short original passages
  • Spaced review and mixed practice schedules
  • Error logs that lead to targeted repairs

With explained answers for every page

Covered

Scope. This book covers planning, retrieval, spacing, mixing, feedback and error analysis.

Not covered

  • The short science and history passages are practice material, not a full course.

  • Compare an answer with an answer key

The steps in this book

  1. Step 1: Get Ready

Check the skills you need first: reading a short passage, listing tasks, estimating time and comparing an answer with a key.

  2. Step 2: Learn It

Read a short explanation of one study strategy and the words that go with it.

  3. Step 3: See It

See the strategy used on a real school task, with the thinking written out.

  4. Step 4: Try It Together

Try it with prompts and help cues. The help shrinks as you go.

  5. Step 5: On Your Own

Use the strategy on your own, in new situations, and explain your choices.

  6. Step 6: Look Back

Retrieve earlier strategies, test them in mixed review, and decide what to practice next.

  7. Step 7: Check and Fix

Check answers at the back. Each one explains why, names a common mistake and points to a page to revisit.
